Fresno Unified Makes History: First Female Superintendent Takes the Helm
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE Fresno Unified has finally named its new superintendent after about a year of searching. They mention that she is a former student and will become the first woman to take up this position.
On Wednesday, the school district revealed that Misty Her has been appointed as the permanent superintendent for the state’s third-largest district. It is anticipated that her contract will be ratified at the board meeting scheduled for April 30.

Over more than three decades, she has progressed through various roles including teacher, vice principal, principal, instructional superintendent, and deputy superintendent, starting out as a bilingual instructional aide.
Most recently, her role was as interim superintendent , stepping into the position vacated by Bob Nelson following his announcement to leave for Fresno State in May of the previous year.
