Football Club Faces £35,000 Bill After Bold Burglary

A community soccer team has calculated £35,000 in damages following a burglary where their facilities were vandalized and property was taken.

Police reported that burglars entered the Padstow United Youth &Girls FC grounds at Jury Park sometime between Wednesday and Thursday.

Items taken include a John Deere tractor, walk-behind mowers, as well as football gear and balls.

The criminals also tore out the CCTV system, leaving the club without security camera recordings.

'Gutted'

Club secretary Les Barrow stated that the financial losses have severely impacted the team, particularly as crucial matches are coming up.

"Understated would be more accurate," he remarked.

This has created more inconvenience than necessary and has led to issues with our fittings.

However, other teams have generously loaned us their gear, so we will proceed with the matches.

He and other club leaders have estimated total loss at about £35,000, he said.

The Devon and Cornwall Police are looking into the burglary and have appealed for anyone with relevant details to get in touch with them.
