Ex-Director of Dumas EDC Sentenced to 3-Year Prison Term
DUMAS, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The 69th District Attorney for the State of Texas reported that the ex-Dumas Economic Development Director received a three-year jail term on Monday due to theft-related charges.

As stated in the press statement released by the District Attorney’s office, Michael Running, who hails from Dumas, admitted guilt to charges of "Theft and Misappropriation of Fiduciary Property" on April 1st.
The District Attorney’s office stated that Running faced indictment for misusing the Dumas Economic Development Corporation’s credit card for personal expenses. These unauthorized charges encompassed items such as "family vacations," "housekeeping services" at his private home, and even payment related to "burial costs for his deceased horse."
The District Attorney's office further mentioned that Running was charged with issuing checks to himself from the Cowboy Classic Rodeo Association. Running confessed to taking approximately $46,000 from that organization.
Running was ordered to serve a three-year term at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division along with a fine of $5,000 for each count.
