Drunk Driver Blazes Through Construction Zone at High Speed, Arrested

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) — According to the Evansville Police Department, they apprehended a female suspect who was under the influence of alcohol while speeding at least 20 mph above the legal limit within a construction area along Highway 41.

Police report that 61-year-old Leanna McIntosh was speeding at 53 mph over the Diamond Avenue overpass on Route 41 shortly after 8:45 p.m. on Friday.

The displayed speed limit is 30.

The police apprehended McIntosh at the intersection of 41 and Morgan, where according to them, she made a left turn onto Morgan Street, an action that is presently forbidden as indicated by signs.

The EPD states that they stopped McIntosh, and upon approaching the vehicle, they noticed her open the door, which allowed them to detect an odor of alcohol emanating from within.

According to officers, McIntosh did not pass a field sobriety test and consequently got arrested.

She faced charges for driving under the influence.
