DRC: Mass Peace Rally Rocks Butembo

Many individuals gathered in Butembo, a city within Congo's North Kivu province, calling for an end to conflict in their area.
The procession orchestrated by various civic organizations took place as Goma, the provincial capital, reached three months under insurgent control.
The protesters, holding signs advocating for peace and shouting chants promoting national solidarity, showed backing for an initial accord facilitated by the U.S. between Kinshasa and Kigali.
Signed in Washington on Friday, the agreement aims to facilitate de-escalation and potentially lead to a deal.
The conflict in eastern Congo is believed to have resulted in approximately 6 million deaths since the mid-1990s, following the Rwandan genocide.
