Discover the Greenwich Public Schools' 2025 Distinguished Teachers

GREENWICH — The Greenwich Public Schools The community plans to honor six teachers as part of the district's honorees for 2025. Distinguished Teachers During a ceremony held on May 8.

The group of six educators have expertise ranging from mathematics to music and come from four distinct GPS institutions — Greenwich High School, Glenville School, North Mianus School, and Western Middle School. This academic year, three out of these distinguished teachers are affiliated with GHS.

Starting in early March, parents, students and colleagues can nominate a GPS teacher for the award. The Distinguished Teachers Committee, which is made up of 20 members from organizations including the Greenwich Education Association, the Greenwich Organization of School Administrators and the Parent-Teacher Association Council, review the nominations.

During the committee’s voting session in April, DTAC members cast their secret ballots. These ballots are then counted, and the six educators who receive the highest number of votes are chosen to be honored with the Distinguished Teacher Award.

The notable educators of this year are:

  • Frances Bittman, who teaches English and operates as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) instructor at Greenwich High School,
  • Robin Chenot, music teacher at North Mianus School
  • Bethany Fuscaldo, who teaches music at Greenwich High School
  • Julia Haas-Godsil, who works as a math interventionist at Glenville School,
  • Ralph Marmor, who teaches English at Western Middle School,
  • Beena Ramachandran, who teaches chemistry at Greenwich High School

The Distinguished Teacher Awards Committee saw a plethora of exceptional submissions this year," stated DTAC co-chairs Linda Shirley and Judy Soto. "This underscores the remarkable, skilled, and committed educators who form part of the Greenwich Public School system. It’s clear we are privileged to reside in a region that highly regards education and endeavors to offer top-tier instructors for both our pupils and society.

The awards ceremony will be held at 4:30 p.m. on May 8 at Central Middle School.
