Cruise Ship Revamp: Marine Engineering Company Transforms Luxury Liner
A cruise vessel has been refurbished by a marine engineering firm based in Poole.
The SMS Group dedicated seven weeks to work on the AIDAdiva in Marseille, making it the inaugural cruise ship to undergo the Evolution programme.
The renovation of the 252-metre-long ship, capable of accommodating up to 2,050 travelers, featured advanced technologies, enhanced cabins, dining facilities, and recreational spaces.
Nearly 100 proficient staff members from the firm were assigned to this project, encompassing carpenters, painters, galleys installers, tile fixers, plumbers, HVAC experts, electricians, and lighting technicians.

David McCarthy, the operations director at SMS Group, commented: "Even with the size of the project and the intricacy of the tasks involved, I'm pleased that we met the challenge head-on and successfully completed these iconic venues for AIDA."
The commitment and teamwork among our reliable partners and the client undeniably contributed to its success.
"Big thanks to both."
The installations in the pubs and eateries featured new buffet areas and serving line counters, as well as fresh waiting staff stations and handwashing points.
The areas were improved through reconfiguring the heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and fire safety systems, along with complete upgrades to the electrical wiring and installation of new ornamental lighting fixtures.
