Cornerback: Buffalo needs to identify a starting cornerback to pair with Christian Benford. The previous starter, Rasul Douglas, remains a free agent. The team has retained Dane Jackson, who was with Buffalo from 2000 through 2023, and they have also moved on from their former first-round pick, Kaiir Elam.
Defensive tackle: Free agent signee Larry Ogunjobi will face a six-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. Ogunjobi signed a one-year pact, while DaQuan Jones’ contract concludes at the end of the season.
Edge: Greg Rousseau inked a four-year deal that secures his position with Buffalo until the 2029 season. However, A.J. Epenesa and Joey Bosa will become unrestricted free agents following the 2025 season. Newcomer Michael Hoecht must serve a six-game ban at the beginning of the season due to a performance-enhancing drug violation.
Wide receiver: In 2024, quarterback Josh Allen secured the NFL MVP award even though he didn’t have a wide receiver reach 1,000 yards. He threw 30 touchdown passes during the season, with Mack Hollins leading the team’s receivers with five of those scores. After Hollins departed for New England via free agency, Amari Cooper remained available as an unrestricted free agent. However, the Buffalo Bills added depth at receiver by signing Josh Palmer—who accumulated 182 receptions for 2,287 yards and 10 touchdowns over his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers—to a three-year deal.
Safety: The Buffalo team is bringing back Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, and Cole Bishop for the time being. Additionally, the Bills have acquired ex-Washington safety Darrick Forrest through free agency.
