Bills Mull Trade for $31 Million NFL Edge Rusher?

As the Buffalo Bills conclude their 2025 NFL Draft with a strong focus on reinforcing their defense, they might still have plans to bolster their roster further before finalizing their depth chart.
The New York Giants used the third overall selection to draft Penn State’s edge rusher Abdul Carter, positioning him alongside Brian Burns on one side and pairing him with Dexter Lawrence. This move unfortunately creates some uncertainty in their roster, particularly for the previous first-round pick. Kayvon Thibodeaux will play second fiddle to the Giants' two standout pass rushers.
In 2023, the player from Oregon enjoyed an impressive season with 11.5 sacks. However, in 2024, after missing five games, his sack count dropped significantly to only 5.5. Despite being primarily known as a formidable pass rusher who doesn’t contribute much defensively against the run, Thibodeaux’s $9.9 million cap hit for 2025 seems quite reasonable. Given this situation, the Bills ought to consider bringing him aboard if the Giants decide to part ways; indications suggest such moves may happen soon. Notably, since Giants' GM Joe Schoen previously worked under Buffalo, it would be prudent of Brandon Beane, currently holding key positions within the organization, to initiate talks aimed at securing the ex-top-ten draft choice for bolstering the team's pass rushing capabilities.
