$60 Million F-35 Fighter Jet Plunges Off USS Truman, Vanishes Underwater

Last week, when Houthi rebels targeted the USS Harry S. Truman, the aircraft carrier’s maneuver to avoid danger led to a costly outcome: a $60 million F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet fell overboard and plunged to the sea floor.
As reported in AP The expensive accident happened when personnel were moving the airplane through the carrier’s hangar bay using a tow truck. During this process, the vessel made an abrupt maneuver, which officers termed as “a sharp turn,” to evade incoming threats. This sudden movement caused both the plane and the tow truck to fall off the deck. Fortunately, the groundcrew managed to escape safely; however, one serviceman received slight wounds from the incident.
"The plane and towing vehicle went overboard," the Navy stated. The naval vessel had been operating in local waters for several months, carrying out missions to prevent attacks from Yemeni combatants. Authorities have initiated an inquiry into the event.
