20-year-old man arrested following investigation of Norfolk State on-campus shooting
NORFOLK — Authorities have apprehended a 20-year-old male suspected of participating in a shooting that occurred at Norfolk State University late Saturday evening.
Zakeyis A. Womack from Ringgold, Virginia, was apprehended by law enforcement in Reidsville, North Carolina. He has faced several felony charges and remains in custody without bail. It should be noted that Ringgold is a smaller area located near Danville.
The on-campus shooting The incident, which occurred near the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center around 11:30 p.m., resulted in two 22-year-old men being hospitalized, according to the police report. One of them initially had critical injuries but both are anticipated to survive.

After the detectives' investigation, the Norfolk police stated that Womack was apprehended with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Norfolk State University Police Department.
The detectives haven't provided any additional information regarding the shooting, according to the police statement. The inquiry is still ongoing.
