Fairfield County Schools Chief Announces Retirement

Dr. Tony L. Hemingway, who serves as the Superintendent of Fairfield County School District, has declared his intention to retire starting from June 30, 2025, due to a pressing family obligation necessitating his move elsewhere.

Superintendent Hemingway stated in an announcement that he did not make the choice to resign hastily; however, it was prompted by personal commitments that would impede his ability to devote the necessary time and focus required for his position.

"Although this wasn’t an easy choice, I must prioritize my family responsibilities, which prevent me from dedicating the necessary time and attention to the superintendent position," Hemingway stated.

Hemingway, who took over as the district’s superintendent in 2024, stated his dedication to facilitating a seamless leadership transition in the coming months.

I'm proud of our collective achievements," Hemingway stated. "The Fairfield County School District is now ideally set up for ongoing success.
