Chasing Aces and Goodwill Join Forces for Jobs Fairs

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — On Wednesday, April 23, two firms will be hosting job fairs in Shreveport-Bossier.

Chasing Aces is organizing a job fair in Bossier City, while Goodwill Industries is hosting one in Shreveport.

"If they wish to find employment, why not offer them jobs?" asked Carolyn Tillman, who works as the community relations and media specialist at Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana.

Spanning 12 acres, the new golf and entertainment complex called Chasing Aces features a nine-hole course along with two PGA-standard putting greens. It also includes amenities such as a clubhouse, a sports bar, and batting areas equipped with radar-driven technology.

They aim to employ 150 individuals for these roles:

  • Golf pros
  • Maintenance technicians
  • Servers
  • Bartenders
  • Kitchen staff
  • Managers
  • Custodians
  • Retail staff
  • Event staff
  • Marketing/sales professionals

We anticipate around 400 to 500 individuals visiting us today, and we will be conducting immediate hires as needed," stated Destiny Garcia, the director of brand development for Chasing Aces. "We currently offer various roles such as maintenance jobs, marketing opportunities, and sales positions, along with cleaning crews. There are also openings in areas like guest services, kitchen support, bar tenders, professional golf instructors, and retail associates. Essentially, we're providing numerous career options here at Chasing Aces where many professionals can find their niche.

We're not just assembling a team; we're initiating a movement," stated Founder John Dudley. "We seek individuals who value community, enjoy empowering others to excel, and aren't opposed to adding some enjoyment to the process.

The employment event takes place from 11 AM to 7 PM at Simple Church located on the Louisiana Boardwalk.

Participants are requested to bring their I-9 documents since jobs will be offered immediately. Chasing Aces is scheduled to debut in early June. Tap here to submit your application online.

At the Goodwill career expo held between 11 AM and 1 PM on Wednesday, an overwhelming number of individuals attended seeking employment opportunities. Seventeen distinct businesses participated in this gathering with intentions to recruit new hires.

"At Goodwill, our mission is to assist individuals in securing employment. By preparing them for the workforce, we aim to provide opportunities for those who may be struggling. Offering various programs designed to make our clients employable, we strive to serve as a support system for those seeking self-sufficiency rather than dependency," explained Tillman.

Those who might have missed Wednesday's event can visit a Goodwill job center for assistance with their job search. Two such centers operate in Shreveport: one at 800 W 70th Street and another at 8100 Jefferson Parkway. These locations are accessible from Monday through Thursday between 8 A.M. and 5 P.M., and Fridays from 8 A.M. until noon. Additionally, there is a job center in Natchitoches situated at 311 South Drive. The operating hours are identical to those of the Shreveport centers.

For those who didn’t attend the Chasing Aces job fair, Garcia mentions that there are alternative methods to submit an application.

The job listing is currently live on our website. Facebook page ", it remains continuously available, which means that regardless of whether you missed the job fair today, you can still visit that link, review our current openings, and submit your application," she clarified.
